Genesis 2:1
1And heaven and earth and all their array were finished.
In this sermon, we explore the theme of trusting the Bible, emphasizing its historical reliability, divine inspiration, and authority, while demonstrating its practical impact on believers' lives. By examining fulfilled prophecies, affirmations of Jesus, and the transformative power of Scripture, we are called to implement God's Word, enhancing our faith and salvation in Christ.
1And heaven and earth and all their array were finished.
21Therefore, putting aside all moral uncleanness and wicked excess, welcome with humility the implanted message which is able to save your souls. 22But be doers of the message and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves, 23because if anyone is a hearer of the message and not a doer, this one is like someone staring at his own face in a mirror,
8For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9it is not from works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are his creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we may walk in them.
6and raised us together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7in order that he might show in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;
11For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who is rich to all who call upon him. 13For “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
13in whom also you, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also when you believed you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession, to the praise of his glory. 15Because of this I also, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
5For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: “The person who does this will live by it.” 6But the righteousness from faith speaks like this: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down), 7or “Who will descend into the abyss?” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
Looking at Genesis 2:1, what can we observe about God's completion of creation, and how is this completion reflected in our understanding of the Bible's trustworthiness?
In Deuteronomy 6:1, we're given commandments and regulations to observe. How do these instructions reflect the role of scripture as a guide in the sermon we heard?
Thinking about how Jesus responds to temptation in Luke 4:1-12, how does this passage inspire our trust in scripture during challenging times?
